biography

Angelee Deodhar is an ophthalmologist/poet of Indian origin who has found peace and life saving grace in haiku, during a life threatening illness a decade ago. She lives in Chandigarh [Le Corbusier's modern city] with her world-renowned rheumatologist husband - Shridhar Deodhar, 19 year old son - Ananth [a computer geek] and 2 dogs - Elsa and Liesl.

Unable to continue her profession as an eye surgeon, her aim now is to put India on the world haiku map through sharing not only her own work but that of her fellow haijin from India with internationally renowned poets. In her haiku journey she has encountered many teachers who shared with her their books and views and gave her encouragement. One of the chief of these being Mr. William J. Higginson. She and her husband attended the WHF 2000 in London-Oxford where she presented a paper : "Haiku an Indian Perspective", and met with haijin from all over the world with whom she continues to correspond, share and learn.
