biography

The haiku name an'ya, literally translated, means "a peaceful light in the moonless night". an'ya is of Serbian-American heritage, and lives an anchoritical lifestyle on a mountaintop in Oregon. This published poetress previously taught Balkan dance troupes and she is a former Nascar-track trophy girl, Slavic foods caterer, and pre-school teacher.

an'ya's book, entitled "moonless night", is in progress now. Her haiku is being translated into the Serbian language for numerous publications, as well as into the Oriya language by Auswini Kumar Mishra, Secretary of the Orissa Sahitya Aka Demi Museum in India, and is scheduled for publication in the quarterly journal Konark. In addition, her haiku has also been translated into German. an'ya's poetry is also scheduled to appear in an Oregon newletter Northwest Ethnic Voice.

an'ya has recently completed a collaboration with 'ZephyrSymphony" windchimes based in Arizona which is called "haiku in motion". For this, her haiku were hand-painted by Connie Johnson on a beautiful cut-glass windchime.

an'ya is featured in Ty Hadman's Poet Profile of the Month, for May 2001, on the AHA Poetry Page.

Lastly, and still in progress is an article about an'ya that is scheduled to appear in the American Srbobran, prominent Serbian Authors in America column, written by Vasa Mihalovich.
