Carmen Sterba is a Czech-American who was born in Seattle, and has lived in Japan for half of her life. She is a college instructor with three sons. She has one degree in Far East Asian Studies and another degree in Comparative Literature. Her interests are prayer, haiku, sijo, haibun and ice skating. Carmen is the haijinx editor for Asia, and belongs to the World Haiku Club and the World Haiku Association. She is a member of several mailing lists, including sijoforum and shiki-temp. Carmen received an honorable mention in the International Section of the 5th Mainichi Haiku Contest.
