
Yu Chang was born in mainland China in 1938, grew up in Taiwan, and went to graduate schools in England and in the U.S. He has been a member of the electrical engineering faculty at Union College since 1974. He lives in Schenectady, N.Y., just south of the Mohawk river, within easy reach of the Adirondack mountains. He started writing haiku in 1996. He was Shiki Kukai secretary from August 1997 to February 1999. He is featured in Ty Hadman's Poet Profile of the Month, for June 2001, on the AHA Poetry Page. First place in the 2nd and 3rd Shiki Internet Haiku contest, 1997, 1998. A New Resonance, Red Moon Press, 1999.
