from The Haiku Foundation’s introduction:

Essences began as a column written by Carmen Sterba in the North American Post in Seattle, WA, a bilingual newspaper in Japanese and English. Its purpose is to go back to the roots of the “haiku movement” in North America: the major poets, the individual styles of haiku, the books, the journals and conferences as they evolved from the sixties and seventies onwards. This will be a short version, so feel free to add information and comments as we go along..

On Miriam’s Well I’m looking for guest bloggers, books to review, published poets to interview, and projects to cover. The blog focuses on poetry–particularly of Santa Fe and of the Southwest–but I’m also covering land art, painting, travel, and serendipitous ideas.

I welcome your comments and suggestions!

Send me your books to review, published poets to interview, art events, and anything about Baba Yaga! I’m also looking for little essays on “where I like to write in my hometowm”–cafes, libraries, nooks, crannies…

Look at the categories list and send me something that fits. I really look forward to your work.
