Carmen Sterba lives in Washington State.

Carmen lived in Japan for 31 years and returned to the USA in 2004. She is a founding editor for haijinx, a haiku columnist for Essences on troutswirl, The Haiku Foundation’s Blog and for the North American Post, a Japanese-American newspaper in Seattle.

In the Haiku Society of America, she has been both Secretary (2005-6) and First VP (2009).

Carmen’s haiku appeared in Emerging Voices in English-language Haiku 4 in 2005 and her chapbook, sunlit jar was first published in 2002. Locally, she is active in Haiku Northwest and the Puget Sound Poetry Connection.

On March 20, 2010, the equinox, Carmen, Alan Summers, and Mark Brooks announced the return of haijinx with the haijinx quarterly.
